A Special Grandma at Bush Memorial

Lillian York knows that kids today face issues that children in her day could never have imagined. She wanted to make a difference in kids’ lives as a Foster Grandparent but made it clear that she wanted to work with the kids who needed her most--kids who other volunteers might not be able to work with.

In December of 2005, Lillian went to the Bush Memorial Children’s Center in Saint Paul to have "a look around." The rest is history, as they say, and today she continues to offer friendship and support to the residents at Bush Memorial. She helps the children focus on their treatment plan, with the goal of finishing the program successfully.

“Being a Grandma makes me feel good and it keeps me young,” says Lillian. “I love that I can help these wonderful children and stay busy while I’m doing it. I want to do this for the rest of my life!”
