Family Means Respite Program
Foster Grandparents are recognized for their service to school children, but occasionally they serve in other settings, as well.
From July, 2009, to December, 2009, two Foster Grandparent volunteers served 15 caregiver families as part of the Family Means Respite Program in Stillwater. As a result, family members were able to take planned time off from their full-time caregiving responsibilities.
According to site staff, all 15 families served by Foster Grandparent volunteers reported a sense of relief that they could now make it as caregivers. With this additional support, they reported having more flexibility in scheduling and feeling better about their situation.
