Brightening a client's day!
Time and again at Anoka County RSVP we hear that volunteers get more than they give. I recently heard a similar story from a volunteer driver through Anoka County MedLink; a service where 20 RSVP volunteers provided rides that enabled 875 veterans and seniors to get to and back from their doctors’ appointments in 2014. Harry noticed that many of his clients booked multiple appointments on the same day or had fasted in preparation for their appointments without eating until they arrived back home. He decided to exchange his free beverage cards (earned from drinking his beloved coffee at a local fast food restaurant) for a small strawberry shake for each client on the way back home. Harry provides companionship while allowing seniors and veterans to remain independently living within their home and says “it costs me nothing to make their day brighter”.
